10 Things to think about before you hire a Basement Waterproofer

Foundation wall cracks are the most common source of seepage in poured concrete foundations. They are caused most frequently by stress, settling or shrinkage during the concrete's curing process.

foundation repairs buffaloIn general, most cracks run from the top of the foundation wall to the bottom. They also, in most instances, go all the way through the wall, which is why they leak. In the event your walls are covered by paneling or drywall, our Estimator can usually locate the crack(s) on the exterior if the top of the foundation wall is exposed above the ground level.

We offer solutions from both the exterior and interior. If the crack is hidden behind drywall or paneling, it can be fixed from the exterior, providing there are no obstructions. Our method is unique in that it does not require a major excavation. Rather, a small hole is cored in the earth in front of the crack down to the base of the wall or footing. The hole is then filled with our Wall-Clay material, which creates an impermeable and flexible water barrier.

If the crack is obstructed from the exterior or if it is accessible from the interior, the crack can be sealed using our Epoxy/Urethane Injection Process. The process involves sealing the crack on its inside face with an epoxy paste and injecting a urethane material that penetrates through the crack to the outside soil. The material adheres to the concrete inside the crack and forms a flexible, rubbery gasket that immediately stops the flow of water.

Both methods are time proven to be equally effective.
