Waterproofing a basement is not a "one size fits all" proposition. Just because you have water, it doesn't always mean you need an entire waterproofing or drainage job. Our drainage professionals will make a thorough assessment of your situation to determine exactly what is causing your problem, and then evaluate how to best fix it.
Our solutions may vary, but the goal is always to keep the water out. For example, if the water is only coming in through a crack, we may recommend an epoxy injection and waterproofing the wall. Or, we may suggest attacking the problem from the outside of your house.
In many cases, however, the solution is to install the proper drainage in your basement. If this is necessary, we'll first make sure to obtain any required permits. Then we'll protect your home by applying cardboard throughout and putting dustcovers on all items in your basement. We will open the existing floor, dig a one foot wide by one foot deep trench around the perimeter of the basement, and remove all debris. For block wall foundations, we drill "weep holes" so water can drain into the trench. We then lay number one stone at the bottom of the trench for drainage. Four inch, perforated, PVC pipes are set at an angle so excess water will flow smoothly and be funneled away to your sump pump or existing drain lines. Four inch, industrial strength pipes are also used for those connections.
The trench is backfilled with stone and then we set two to three inch coat of concrete over the top of that to the wall. A clove sleeve is installed around the perimeter to further prevent water leakage.
